Cu Chi Tunnels & Mekong Delta — Small Group Eco Day Trip from Ho Chi Minh City

Duration

Location

Southern Vietnam

Two of southern Vietnam's most compelling experiences — in a single day, with a guide who actually lives here. Walk through the legendary underground tunnels that shaped a war, then drift through the Mekong Delta on traditional boats among floating gardens and family farms — all with a maximum of 12 guests and zero staged performances.

Most day trips from Saigon take you to one place. This one takes you through two of Vietnam's most contrasting worlds — and puts them in conversation with each other.

The morning belongs to Cu Chi. Not the Cu Chi of souvenir stalls and five-minute tunnel crawls, but a proper guided exploration of a 200-kilometre underground city that housed thousands of people during wartime. You'll venture into preserved tunnel sections, discover hidden trap doors, underground kitchens, field hospitals, and meeting rooms — and hear stories from a guide who explains not just what happened, but why it still matters. This is living history, told with honesty and without theatre. Then the landscape shifts entirely. By lunchtime you'll be sitting beside the Mekong River at a family farmstay in Ben Luc, eating a home-cooked meal with ingredients harvested that morning from the surrounding fields. The afternoon unfolds slowly — the way time works differently out here. A Tuk Tuk carries you through coconut groves and village paths. A traditional motorboat slides along the main waterways while you watch riverside life pass by. A hand-rowed sampan takes you deeper into narrow canals where the only sounds are birdsong and paddles. Along the way, you'll stop at organic guava orchards, tour a working coconut farm, try traditional water-scooping techniques, and rest in riverside hammocks with a fresh young coconut. Every family you meet earns directly from your visit. Every activity is real — nothing is staged for tourists. And with a maximum of 12 guests, you move through both worlds with the kind of access and attention that larger tours simply can't offer.

FAQs

Where does the tour depart from, and do you offer hotel pick-up?
Free hotel pick-up is included for guests staying in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. Simply share your hotel address when booking. Guests outside District 1 should meet at: 112 Tran Hung Dao Street, Ben Thanh Ward, District 1. Please arrive by 7:15 AM — the tour departs at 7:30 AM promptly.
I'm vegetarian / have dietary restrictions. Can you accommodate me?
Yes — vegetarian and most common dietary requirements can be accommodated with at least 24 hours' notice at the time of booking. The farm-to-table lunch menu can be adjusted. For severe allergies, please specify in detail so we can take extra care.
What is your cancellation policy?
48+ hours before: full refund (minus 10% processing fee). 24–48 hours: 50% refund. Under 24 hours or no-show: no refund.
Does the tour run in the rain?
Yes — tours operate rain or shine. Bring a light rain jacket just in case. In severe weather (typhoons, flooding), we offer a full refund or free rescheduling and will notify you as early as possible. Note: rainy season (May–Oct) can make tunnel sections muddier — closed-toe shoes are essential.
What should I wear to the Cu Chi Tunnels specifically?
Wear clothes you don't mind getting dusty or muddy — the tunnels are earthy environments. Closed-toe shoes are essential (no sandals or thongs for the tunnel sections). Long pants are strongly recommended — both for the tunnels and for respectful attire in rural Mekong communities. Bring a hat and sunscreen for outdoor sections.
